TOOWOOMBA OFFICES – THURSDAY 1 MAY 2008
Stewards today opened a number of inquiries into the results of analysis on urine samples provided by Jockeys and Trackwork riders in Toowoomba.
Jockey Jason Warrington pleaded guilty to a charge under AR81A(1)(a), in that a urine sample provided by him at the Toowoomba Turf Club, on Saturday
15 March 2008, upon analysis’ revealed the presence of a banned substance, namely CANNABIS.
Jockey Warrington’s licence was suspended in full for a period of nine (9) months effective as at 28 March 2008, the date on which he was stood down.
Stewards ordered that should Jockey Warrington successfully undertake a drug rehabilitation program to the satisfaction of Queensland Racing Limited (QRL), that the nine (9) month suspension, be reduced to seven (7) months and the last month he be allowed to ride trackwork after providing a clear sample.
Trackwork rider Mr Leslie Darcy pleaded guilty to charge under AR81A(1)(a), in that a urine sample provided by him at the Toowoomba Turf Club, on 31 March 2008, upon analysis’ revealed the presence of a banned substance, namely CANNABIS.
Mr Darcy’s licence was suspended in full for a period of six (6) months effective immediately.
Stewards ordered that prior to Mr Darcy’s licence being renewed; he must provide evidence that he has successfully undertaken a program of drug rehabilitation to the satisfaction of QRL.
Trackwork rider Mr Bruce Dowden was found guilty of a charge under AR81A(1)(a), in that a urine sample provided by him at the Toowoomba Turf Club, on 31 March 2008, upon analysis’ revealed the presence of a banned substance, namely CANNABIS.
Mr Dowden’s licence was suspended in full for a period of three (3) months, effective as at 10 April 2008, the date on which he was stood down.
Trackwork rider Mr Ricky Rohde pleaded guilty of a charge under AR81A(1)(a), in that a urine sample provided by him at the Toowoomba Turf Club, on
17 March 2008, upon analysis’ revealed the presence of a banned substance, namely PHENTERMINE.
Mr Rohde’s trackwork licence was suspended for a period of one (1) month, effective as at 8 April 2008, the date on which he was stood down.
Trackwork rider Mr Brenton Clark pleaded guilty of a charge under AR81A(1)(a), in that a urine sample provided by him at the Toowoomba Turf Club, on 31 March 2008, upon analysis’ revealed the presence of a banned substance, namely PHENTERMINE.
Mr Clark’s trackwork licence was suspended for a period of six (6) weeks, effective as at 8 April 2008, the date on which he was stood down. In addition Mr Clark was fined $500.
Apprentice Carly Mae-Pye pleaded guilty to a charge under AR81A(1)(a), in that a urine sample provided by her at the Toowoomba Turf Club, on Saturday
15 March 2008, upon analysis’ revealed the presence of banned substances, namely AMPHETAMINES and METHAMPHETAMINES.
Apprentice Carly Mae-Pye was disqualified for a period of 12 months effectively immediately.
Apprentice Carly Mae-Pye pleaded guilty to a further charge under AR81A(1)(b) in that when directed to provide a sample of her urine for analysis on Monday 17 march 2008 she failed to do so.
Apprentice Carly Mae-Pye was disqualified for a period of 12 months effectively immediately. Stewards ordered that this period of disqualification be served concurrently with the term of disqualification handed down under the provisions of AR81A(1)(a).
Stewards further ordered that should Apprentice Carly Mae-Pye complete a drug rehabilitation program to the satisfaction of QRL, the term of disqualification be reduced to a period of 6 months disqualification, with a further 3 months suspension of her licence to ride in races. |
