Steward rotation development
Queensland Racing Limited (QRL) today announced that Mr Patrick Cooper, Senior Stipendiary Steward based in Townsville, has ceased employment with the control body.
“Mr Cooper had been transferred by QRL to the Toowoomba office as part of the State wide rotation of stewards but Mr Cooper elected not to proceed on transfer,” QRL’s Director of Integrity Services Mr Jamie Orchard said.
“Rotating stewards through the head office and the various regional offices of Queensland Racing is an important part of ensuring the highest standards of integrity in stewarding throughout the State.
“Such movement of staff is structured to ensure that regionally based stewards are in a location long enough to develop an understanding of local issues but not so long as to develop practices inconsistent with those elsewhere.
“It is through recognition of the importance of that policy that the terms of employment of stewards contain a specific acknowledgement that their workplace may change from time to time.”
Mr Orchard said other Stewards will be transferring to other offices in accordance with the rotation policy from November 1, 2008.
“Queensland Racing wishes Mr Cooper well in his future endeavours,” Mr Orchard said.
