PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE COVER ACHIEVED FOR ALL AUSTRALIAN JOCKEYS
The Chairman of the Australian Racing Board, Mr Bob Bentley and the Chairman of the Australian Jockeys Association, Mr Ross Inglis, jointly congratulate the Principal Racing Authorities for their willingness to co operate in the establishment of a national personal accident insurance program for all Australian jockeys.
The Australian Racing Board sub committee of Rob Hines, Peter V'Landys, Malcolm Tuttle and ARB Chief Executive Andrew Harding are to be congratulated for the excellent outcome in complex issues across State boarders.

The personal accident insurance program will provide all Australian Jockeys (including apprentices) with the following benefits:
Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disablement:
‘Own occupation’ definition
24 hours/265 days cover
Sum Insured of $250,000
Temporary Total Disablement:
‘Own occupation’ definition
52 weeks
Benefit of $300 per week (including workers’ compensation top-up)
An Australian Racing Board subcommittee consisting of Malcolm Tuttle, Peter V’Landys, Rob Hines and Andrew Harding was charged with the task of working with the Australian Jockeys’ Association on the development of this program.
The insurance program will be provided by Lumley General through Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers. This program was selected from a number of competitive proposals on the advice of an independent expert assessor, Turks Legal.
