Borsha’s Mark has hit the year running with a clean sweep of wins to his name since resuming in late January.
In fact it is four straight wins for the three-year-old who also won at his last start in his previous preparation.
Borsha’s Mark’s (G3 Falvelon-Elite Warrior) most recent win was at Eagle Farm on Saturday in the Rosemount Diamond Plate 1200m when he stormed down the centre of the track to snatch the win from Chinchilla Rose (Peter Wells) by a long neck. Sutton Friend (Jim Byrne) ran home for third by a further one and a quarters of a length.
“He’s certainly improving all the time,” trainer Les Kelly said.
“The intentions weren’t to get back as far as we did but that’s how it panned out. There was a lot of speed on in the race and he really finished the race off well,” Kelly said adding that they planned to avoid the fence on the home turn.
“We felt the track was not as fast on the inside. The idea was to get him to the centre of the track.
“We’ve always raced him a little bit closer to the lead but as the race turned out it was good because now we know we can ride him back a bit further and it will probably suit him better when we get to the 1400m.”
Borsha’s Mark went straight for a spell after winning the feature race and will return for the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas 1200m on May 3. With all going well, Kelly plans to then target the Gunsynd Quality (3YO) 1200m with the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap 1400m being his main goal with the three-year-old.
