A hat trick for Fravashi

Out in front, another win for Fravashi
|
Fravashi has made it three from three in his first campaign collecting a Group 2 win in the process.
In his new colours of Darley owner Sheihk Mohammed, Fravashi (C2 Falbrav IRE-Angelic Smile) claimed the Group 2 Schweppes Sires Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm 1400m on Saturday, May 31.
The winning streak began with a two and a half length win in the 2YO Maiden at Canterbury on April 23. This was followed up by the 2YO Open Handicap win at Hawkesbury on May 10. Saturday’s Group 2 win makes him exempt from any ballot for the upcoming Group 1 Racetree T.J. Smith.
While he hasn’t had a chance to prove otherwise, the young colt is showing an adeptness for a wet track with the wins on dead and heavy tracks.
Jumping from the middle in barrier five, as $1.60 race favourite Fravashi got a great start to get to the front. From there he and rider Corey Brown sat in the box seat travelling easily behind New Zealand gelding Rockdale (Craig Newitt).
They started to come after the leader in the straight and got past at the 200m mark to head to the line two and a quarter lengths ahead of Rockdale.
Cat D’antibes (Glen Colless) finished third by one a quarter lengths.
Trainer Peter Snowden was impressed the colt could do it again. “(He’s) Taken it all in. It doesn’t worry him what he’s been through so far. (We’ve) Been pretty kind to him, he’s taken it pretty well and he’s winning for us, that’s even better,” he said.

“He’s got plenty of ability. He’s learnt to relax. He’s always had that ability to do that. He’s just got to learn to switch on at the right time again. He’s been back behind horses and they’ve helped him work into the race. But today (May 31) he sort of left the front a long way out, you could see him prick his ears and look around at the crowd and everything else. With the distance, he sort of got away at the last bit which is good to see.”
“He’s a nice horse, better on that bit of ground. More like Falbrav than he is his mother. A much bigger scopier type of horse. He’s super relaxed so he’s got a great attitude and that’ll take him a long way.”
In-form Brown was pleased with what the colt could do. “I sort of revved him up…the ears went up,” said Brown who was on board for Fravashi’s first win.
“Bit of experience and now he’s getting a bit better.”
