Doonbah Star connections enjoy a win at Doomben

Queensland stallion Falvelon scored his own treble at City Pacific Doomben on Saturday, November 1 when his progeny picked up two QTIS wins and a Class 6 Handicap and all for Gold Coast trainers.
Doonbah Star, Powerful Light and Fangles all showed they had the same genes running through them getting great starts to win from the front.
Doonbah Star (C3 Falvelon-Star Tumble) kicked off the winning streak bringing his provincial form to town to take out the first, the Rochele Painting QTIS 3YO Handicap 1350m.
With regular jockey Terry Treichel aboard they got well in front from a good jump.
Vintage Mo (Chris McIver) caught up and got past for the lead but by the 400m mark Doonbah Star was able to sweep back to the front. They couldn’t catch him in the straight running on to win two and three quarters of a length ahead to Jamelden Cat (Sean Cormack).
Left Standing (Scott Seamer) placed third by a head.
“He jumped away nicely and I got there and he settled nice,” said Treichel of the Trevor Bailey trained colt.
“When the other horse came up beside him he relaxed nice for me. Coming around the corner I just gave him a bit of a click along and he picked up the bit really quickly and strong.”
“In his last three runs he’s improving every time. He’s a bit of a freak of a horse.”
From four starts, Doonbah Star has won three times and placed second earning $86,800 including $25,900 in QTIS bonuses.
The Helen Page-trained Powerful Light picked up $53,000 for connections in her first start claiming the Concept Window Fashion QTIS 2YO Handicap 1010m.
Apprentice Matthew Palmer had the ride and the pair shot to the front from barrier two and settled in the leaders pack.
Powerful Light (F2 Falvelon-Purbright) developed a lead in the straight and while they tried they couldn’t catch her finishing a length in front of $2.10 race favourite Brazilian Princess (Glen Colless).
Melrina Miss (Jim Byrne) finished third behind two and a quarter lengths.
“She did everything,” said Palmer.

“She’s a very professional type. Bounced out well and travelled well and ran home in a very good last 600m so hopefully bigger and better things for her.”
“She’s still got a few little things to learn but that’s a positive really.”
Fangles (G4 Falvelon-Speranto) proved he knew what he was doing picking up his seventh career win in the AAED Electirical Accessories E&G Class 6 Handicap 1350m for trainer Stephen Jones.
Glen Colless ensured Fangles also bounced out quickly to lead early and won by a length and a half in the same colours as Doonbah Star.
