STEWARDS INQUIRY REPORT
Michael Halliday, adjudicating steward, heard three inquires during the month of April 2009.
Jockey Todd Banks pleaded guilty to a charge under AR81A 1 (a) in that a urine sample provided by him at the Toowoomba Turf Club on Monday, 6 April 2009 upon analysis revealed the presence of a banned substance, namely phentermine. Todd Banks’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period covered by six months effective as at 6 April 2009 the date on which he was stood down. Todd Banks was advised that he must provide a clear urine sample prior to resuming trackwork riding. Banks provided a clear sample on 30 April 2009.
Trackrider Darren Kilshaw pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(q) in that on 18 December 2008 while present at Callaghan Park at Rockhampton, where a race meeting was being conducted, he engaged in improper conduct by approaching and threatening Mr Paul Cornick in the mounting yard. Darren Kilshaw was suspended for a period of one month effective from 24 April 2009 and was fined $1000.00.
Trainer Wayne Pomfrett pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178A in that he had in his possession on Cluden Park Racecourse, where a meeting was being conducted, a syringe without the permission of the stewards and without the stewards being satisfied that the possession of the syringe was for a lawful purpose. Wayne Pomfrett was fined $500.00 and an order was made that the syringe be forfeited.
