Mr Hornblower was declared the winner of the Listed Carlton Draught Prime Minister's Cup 1300m after a formal protest against the original winner Rightfully Yours (Craig Nesbitt) was upheld.
The Bruce Hill-trained Rightfully Yours (Craig Nesbitt) raced in the front pack for the majority of the race and at the turn moved to gain best position before sprinting along the straight to win by a head.
Mr Hornblower (Glen Colless) came in second and El Cambio (Kerrin McEvoy) placed third.
However, before the correct weight was declared, Glen Colless lodged a formal protest on behalf of Mr Hornblower’s connections against Rightfully Yours (Craig Newitt) as Colless alleged that there was significant interference to his mount near the 200m.
Stewards reviewed the video evidence and upheld Colless’s protest, ruling that when Newitt shifted Rightfully Yours out near the 200m he forced Court Command (Corey Brown) onto Mr Hornblower on two occasions and unbalanced him significantly, causing interference which exceeded the head margin at the finish.
As a result, placings were amended to have Mr Hornblower in first place ahead of Rightfully Yours in second place.
The Tracy Green-trained Mr Hornblower (G7 Admiralty USA-Anika Joy) has achieved great success of late, winning two of his last three starts, bringing his career statistics to 10 wins, 10 seconds and seven thirds from 60 starts.
The $112,000 Prime Minister’s Cup prizemoney brings Mr Hornblower’s career prizemoney to $600,600.
