Stewards Inquiry Gold Coast Turf Club January 7, 2010
Stewards today opened an inquiry following interviews taken at the Gold Coast Turf Club on December 23, 2009, in relation to a complaint received at Queensland Racing Limited.
Jockey T. Treichel pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 175(gg) in that on the 23 December 2009, during an interview with stewards, he did present evidence which was subsequently found to be false. After considering all of the evidence it was established that during his interview on December 23, 2009 jockey Treichel falsely stated that an incident took place at his residential address in Nerang on the night 22 December 22, 2009, when in actual fact it had taken place at another address in Worongary, and subsequently led to an incident on Racecourse Drive, Bundall in the early hours of December 23, 2009.
Jockey T. Treichel was subsequently fined the sum of $1000 for providing false evidence at an interview. Stewards invoked LR 36(h) and suspended $500 for a period of 12 months with the provision that jockey Treichel does not re-offend.
