Persian Arrow took 22 starts to win and that must be some sort of record for a son of Lion Hunter. He scored by a length at the opening of Oak Park’s two-day meeting. He is an older half-brother to Eagle Farm winner Cat Eyes and recent 2yo winner Feline Flyer who are both by Catbird. Their dam also has a weanling colt by Not a Single Doubt. Top's Lad has been around the block a few times and he won for the second time on the trot here after a Class 4 victory at Gladstone in June. He is by Ridge Top (Forever Regal) who only ever sired two foals. His dam foaled Brisbane winners Tiziano (Forever Regal) and Test Captain (Lord Ted) plus Sydney winner Luigi The Great (Pride of Kellina) before dropping out of the Stud Book in 2006.

La Bella Luisa had been beaten a lip on a heavy track at Gold Coast on June 21 and the same conditions suited in this QTIS race in town. The filly came with a well-timed run to overhaul the leaders at the furlong. She is by Willowbend sire Clang from a Flemington winner who had already foaled Melbourne winner Phayes Tip (Gold Ace), Tasmanian winner Two Bob (Honour and Glory) and Brisbane winner Don Marko (Rubiton). Their dam has a weanling colt by Show a Heart.
Eagle Farm – June 5

T-Peter Balzen (Gold Coast)
$10,000 buy 2006 Gold Coast Magic Millions; V-Couzinz
Punch Up had been posted wide at both runs since returning from a spell and, although he flew down the outside fence to win here, he appreciated a better run in transit to defeat Our Magic by a long head. He is by a Sunday Silence sire from an unraced mare closely related to English and French G1 winner Bigstone. The dam foaled WA winner Kalani Blue (Ashkalani) first-up and she also has Sequalo yearling colt and a Ferocity weanling filly.
Oak Park – July 5
SUPERINTENDENT 4h Sequalo - Love Of Ivory (Gold And Ivory)
WON Werrington Plate (1400m) QTIS $7,350
O-C D McLean; B-K Sams
T-Greg Wehlow (Townsville)
Superintendent won his maiden at Gold Coast before EI but had failed to recapture that form in three subsequent starts. Nevertheless, he jumped a $4 equal favourite at Oak Park and landed a QTIS bonus to boot. Superintendent is by Lyndhurst Stud’s champion sire Sequalo from a half-sister to G2 VRC Maribyrnong Plate winner Fire Thunder (Plush). He is the dam’s last foal.
Toowoomba – July 5
KNEEL AND RAISE 3g Dane Supreme - Splendid Solace (Shalford)
WON Toowoomba Shade & Canvas (1126m)
O-M & L Rolfe, R Young; B-N Rolfe
T-Tom Dougall (Toowoomba)
Bred by part-owner
Kneel And Raise hasn’t put of a hoof wrong this prep and he justified a short quote to score by over a length under Ron Goltz. His record now reads 7-3-2-2. He is by Hazelwood sire Dane Supreme who also sired Cocktail Supreme to win the Listed Ascot Hcp at Eagle Farm the same afternoon. His dam won five races and she is a half-sister to AJC Gimcrack Stakes (LR) placegetter Cantiu (Rory's Jester).
Warra – July 5
MIDNIGHT MOODS 3g Sequalo - La Passionara (Jeune)

T-Andrew Donnelly (Chinchilla
$10,000 buy 2006 Magic Millions National Sale; V-Lyndhurst Stud
Midnight Moods had been well beaten at Kilcoy and Roma since resuming from a seven month spell but he improved plenty to nail this maiden by a short neck. He is another winner for Sequalo who sired a winning double at Wirra when Navillus Qualo was also successful. His dam is related to LR Gosford Classic winner Greenbacks (Green Line Express). She has a weanling sister to Midnight Moods.
