MEDIA RELEASE

Country racing forum to establish five year plan
Following today’s meeting the Board of Queensland Racing Limited (QRL) has agreed to provide funding to enable the conduct of an extensive country racing forum to be held during October 2008.
When considering this issue the Board was conscious of feedback received from regional stakeholders during recent seminars.
QRL has agreed to invite up to six (6) delegates from each Regional Association, which will comprise a broad cross section of the Industry. Listed below is a breakdown of those positions to be included in the seminar:
Queensland Country Racing Committee Delegate
Regional Association Chairperson
Two (2) Club Representatives
One (1) Regional based Owner
One (1) Regional based Licensee
The Board of QRL has provided funding to cover the costs associated with travel and accommodation of each delegate.
The agenda will be extensive and will include the main issues raised during the recent regional seminars, as well as additional items provided by regional stakeholders.
It is proposed that the seminar will provide the broader industry the ability to have input into the development of a future country racing model, which will provide long term certainty for country stakeholders.
QRL will appoint a selection panel, comprising of key industry stakeholders, who will put forward a list of proposed delegates to attend the forums.
ENDS.
