STEWARDS REPORT – J Piper
DEAGON OFFICES – WEDNESDAY 13 MAY 2009
Stewards today concluded an inquiry into an incident shortly after the start in race 3, the YALUMBA OPEN HANDICAP 1000m at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club meeting on Saturday 2 May 2009.
Apprentice J.Piper was found guilty of careless riding under AR137(a), in that shortly after the start she permitted her mount (SLICK TRICK) to shift in when insufficiently clear of PRAYER CHAMBER (B.Payne), which was taken in tightening the running of LACKADOSH (R.Mason) which had to checked and lose its position. CAMBOOYA (M.Radecker) and SUNTANNED (D.Gill) were also hampered in this incident, SLICK TRICK (J.Piper) then continued to shift in when insufficiently clear of PRAYER CHAMBER which as a consequence had to be checked. Stewards suspended J.Piper licence to ride in races for a period of 9 meetings, to commence midnight 17 May and to expire midnight 29 May 2009.
At a subsequent inquiry, Stewards severely reprimanded jockey B.Payne for the standard of her evidence in the above mentioned inquiry AR175(g).
