Upcoming Queensland Meetings
The race meeting set down for Mackay on Thursday 21 February has been abandoned due to ongoing inclement weather.
The race meeting set down for Rockhampton on Tuesday 19 February has been transferred to Thursday 21 February to take advantage of the vacancy created by Mackay. Stakeholders are advised to review the fields for Rockhampton, with significant alterations to Races 6, 7 and 8. Races 7 and 8 have been reduced from 1400m to 1300m and due to the fact that the 1000m races will now be started on the Course Proper, Race 6 now comprises of 10 starters and 3 emergencies.
Whilst the weather in Rockhampton over the next few days will dictate the fate of Thursday’s meeting, Queensland Racing Limited understand the importance of this meeting to local stakeholders and will work with the Rockhampton Jockey Club to provide the meeting the best possible chance of proceeding. Unfortunately, the huge volume of rain received in Mackay over the last week did not provide any opportunity for the meeting to proceed or enable consideration to be given to the transfer of this meeting.
Townsville Stewards will inspect Cluden Park, Townsville, at 12noon tomorrow to determine the fate of Wednesday’s meeting.
Please contact QRL’s Racing Services Supervisor, Matt McDermott, on (07) 3869 9777 for more information on upcoming meetings.
