Queensland Racing Limited (QRL) Stewards today inquired into the results of the analyst’s findings of a blood sample taken from RED WINE BWANA subsequent to it competing in Race 5 at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club on Saturday, 11 April 2009.
The Queensland Government Racing Science Centre reported that analysis of the blood sample revealed the presence of the prohibited substance PHENYLBUTAZONE and OXYPHENYLBUTAZONE.
Trainer G. Farrell pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178, in that as the trainer of RED WINE BWANA, he presented that gelding to race at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club on Saturday 11 April 2009, when analysis of a blood sample taken from that gelding, subsequent to racing, revealed the presence of the prohibited substance PHENYLBUTAZONE and OXYPHENYLBUTAZONE.
Trainer G. Farrell was fined the sum of $2,000.
Acting under the provisions of AR177 RED WINE BWANA was disqualified from the race and the judge’s placings were amended as follows:

2nd HAZZA HEART
3rd HURRICANEPRINCE
4th PINSZAH
5th ALLANACT
