Show a Heart-gelding Cardio fought well to claim the Racetree QTIS 3YO Handicap 1000m at Eagle Farm on Saturday, April 19.
Jumping from out wide at barrier 15, Cardio (G3 Show a Heart-Regal Fair) began well enough to sit behind $2.90 race favourite Burkedin Blues. Heading into the straight he was a length away third but came at them on the outside and dived to win a neck ahead of Mfuwe (Jim Byrne).
Abirra (Jason Taylor) followed in third by a length while Burdekin Blues (Carl Spry) managed fourth by a half head.
Trainer Trevor Miller was impressed with the ride by 2kg claiming apprentice Mandy Radecker. “I just thought Mandy rode him 100 per cent, just how we wanted him ridden, exactly to the plan. We hoped that it would pan that way,” he said.
“She’s got very good hands. She rode him very well.”
“He drew wide but he went on and won the race. He did it at the right end, and he was strong at the finish.”
Radecker rode a double that day also finding success on the Trevor Bailey-trained Fabiarna in the Listed Juanmo Quality Fillies & Mares Handicap.
From nine starts Cardio has only been out of the prizemoney once and found three wins for owners and breeders Barry and Edna Miller now having earned $100,500 including $34,900 in QTIS bonuses.
