It was an ideal finale for Glenlogan Park’s newly purchased Victorian mare Perfect Feeling, who now makes her way to the breeding barn after picking up another Black Type win.
Perfect Feeling (M5 Spinning World-Lady Cairns) fought off a late challenge to claim the Listed Tattersall’s Mile Handicap at Eagle Farm for trainer Trevor Bailey a week after scoring a win at Doomben.
“She came here for those two races and she’s done what she was sent for,” Bailey said.
“As far as the owner, jockey and everyone concerned for her she’s done her job.”
Perfect Feeling was previously raced in Victoria for some success and prior to that in Hong Kong where she never won but ran numerous placings. Her first Black Type win was early in her career in Morphettville when she claimed the Listed Laelia Stakes 1600m before heading overseas.
“The idea was to come up here and then go to stud. It is getting towards the season when they have to go to stud and these two races where there and that brought about the change to send her up here,” Bailey said.
“She was a Black Type winner before now but every race they win means they are more valuable as a broodmare.”
Ridden by Scott Seamer, Perfect Feeling beat Rash Promise (Kelvin Wharton) by half a neck in the Tattersall’s Mile event. It was another half a neck back to Grey Stream (Scott Galloway) in third place.
In her first Brisbane start the mare set the pace but her recent win saw her sit just off the speed in the 1600 metre race.
“The first race she ran there was no pace and we knew with 58kg on her back if we got back too far with no pace we were going to struggle in the end,” Bailey said.
“The other day we knew there would be something there that would go forward and we were going to get a nice run again. I just wish it was that easy every day you went to the races.
“It was only a short margin in the end but she always looked like she was going to hold on.”
