Stewards report Deagon offices – Tuesday 22 April 2008

Stewards today opened an inquiry into the results of analysis taken from a number of horses trained by Mr John Collins.

The Queensland Government Racing Science Centre reported that the following horses had the presence of the prohibited substance HYDROXYPROGESTERONE CAPROATE in blood samples taken from them prior to their competing in the below mentioned races.

Trainer John Collins pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 in that as the trainer of ROYAL FLAG (NZ) he presented that gelding to race when a blood sample taken from it prior to competing in Race 9, the Class 2 Handicap at the Gold Coast Turf Club on Saturday, 2 February 2008 was found to contain a prohibited substance.

Mr Collins was fined $3,000.

Mr Collins pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 in that as the trainer of DEVASTATING (NZ) he presented that gelding to race when a blood sample taken from it prior to competing in Race 7, the Handicap at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, 3 February 2008 was found to contain a prohibited substance.

Mr Collins was fined another $3,000.

Mr Collins further pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 in that as the trainer of ART SUCCESS (NZ) he presented that gelding to race on Saturday,
9 February 2008 at the Brisbane Turf Club in Race 3, the Handicap was found to contain a prohibited substance.

Mr Collins was fined a further $3,000.

Mr Collins was further charged under AR178 in that as the trainer of ART SUCCESS (NZ) he presented that horse to race at the Brisbane Turf Club on Saturday, 23 February 2008 in which it subsequently won Race 3, the Handicap, was found to contain a prohibited substance.

Mr Collins was disqualified for three months.

Mr Collins was charged under AR178 in that as the trainer of ROYAL FLAG (NZ) he presented that gelding to race at Brisbane Turf Club on Saturday,
 23 February 2008 in Race 2, the 3 year old Handicap was found to contain a prohibited substance.

Mr Collins was disqualified for a further three months.

Mr Collins pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 in that as the trainer of DEVASTATING (NZ) he presented that gelding to race in Race 3, the Handicap at the Brisbane Turf Club on Saturday 23 February 2008 was found to contain a prohibited substance.

Mr Collins was disqualified for a further three months. Acting under AR196(2) stewards ordered that the disqualifications be served cumulatively.

Stewards allowed Mr Collins six months to pay the said fines.

Acting under AR177 all horses were disqualified from the above mentions events and the tables below show the new placings.
