Townsville Cleveland Bay meeting rescheduled
Following continuing rain in Townsville, Stewards have taken the decision to abandon tomorrow’s Cleveland Bay meeting.
The meeting will not be lost to the Industry, with Queensland Racing Limited (QRL) implementing a range of changes to the program to ensure stakeholders are not adversely affected.
Listed below are the changes:
- $75,000 Cleveland Bay – Transferred to Saturday, 26 July 2008
- Remaining seven (7) races – Postponed until Monday, 28 July 2008
QRL’s Racing Services Manager, Mr Paul Brennan said: “The Cleveland Bay meeting is an integral part of the Townsville racing schedule and is pivotal to the success of the Northern Racing Carnival.”
“After reviewing the available options, QRL has taken the decision to relocate the Cleveland Bay to the Townsville Cup meeting on Saturday, 26 July 2008 and to assist those stakeholders accepted in the support races, QRL will conduct a seven (7) race TAB meeting on Monday, 28 July 2008.”
Trainers are advised that final acceptances will stand and any early scratchings will be reinstated into the fields. Additionally, trainers are advised that they will be required to advise the RISA Service Centre by 12noon Thursday, 24 July 2008 of any rider alterations for any transferred or postponed races.
There will be no charges levied against horses scratched following this decision. A revised acceptance sheet for Monday, 28 July 2008 will be available this afternoon and the Cleveland Bay acceptances will be available with the Cup day acceptances at around 10.30am tomorrow.
“Whilst it’s unfortunate that the rain has interrupted what was scheduled to be one of the Club’s premier race days, it was encouraging that QRL, Sky Channel and the Townsville Turf Club were able to work together to ensure this meeting was rescheduled.” Brennan said.
