QTIS 600 clean-sweep at Roma
A total of $8000 in QTIS and QTIS 600 bonuses were on offer on Roma Cup Day in the McInnes Wilson QTIS 600 2YO Handicap 1000m, and that is exactly what ended up in the coffers of connections.
“I would like to congratulate the Roma Turf Club for their innovation in funding a two-year-old race in central Queensland early in the racing season,” said Paul Brennan, racing services manager of Queensland Racing Limited.
“It was a remarkable effort for the club to receive eight starters and this was deserved after taking the decision to support the QTIS 600 initiative.”
Race favourite Lambert, ridden by apprentice Rowan Cox, strode away to post a four length win on the Roma sand on Saturday, November 21 in front of the 8500 strong crowd.
The two-year-old gelding locally trained by Craig Smith claimed $13,600 in prizemoney, including $5600 in QTIS added stakes, from his maiden start.
Craiglea Rapper (Lyall Appo) and Al Frisco (Ron Goltz) finished second and third respectively to also benefit from their QTIS and QTIS 600 registration.
