STEWARDS’ REPORT
DEAGON OFFICES – 25 JANUARY 2010
Stewards today inquired into the results of a report from the Queensland Government Racing Science Centre that a urine sample, which was taken from Emsixteen at the Gold Coast Turf Club on November 14, 2009, was found to have contained the prohibited substances phenylbutazone and oxyphenylbutazone.
Trainer Mr D. Kelly pleaded guilty to a charge under AR178 in that as the licensed trainer of Emsixteen he presented that horse in race one, the Surfside Buslines Maiden Handicap 1200m, at the Gold Coast when the urine sample taken from the horse after winning was found upon analysis to have contained the prohibited substances.
Following submissions in relation to penalty, and taking into account the previously unblemished record of Mr Kelly, he was fined the sum of $4000.
Acting under the provisions of Australian Rule of Racing 177, Emsixteen was disqualified from the race and the placing’s were amended as follows:
1st – Public Image
2nd – Fortune Winner
3rd – Wily Tim
4th – Midnight Max
