Perfect timing
Gunsynd’s colours were in the winners’ circle again, this time on the back of Sharufa who picked up the Heinrich Group Magic Millions 2YO Plate 1200m on Easter Monday.
Part-owner Lucky Pippos’ family raced Gunsynd in the famous purple and white colours which were again bringing home the prizemoney for the family.
Ridden by Paul Hammersley, Sharufa (F2 Untouchable-Polgar) won for the second time in her short career for Gold Coast trainer Bryan Guy. The filly secured the win by one and a half lengths over Judge Me Not (Corey Brown) with Hyde Park (Shane Scriven) in third a further half head away.
With a home ground advantage coupled with a nice barrier (7), Sharufa picked up the winning prizemoney worth $57,000 to connections.
“It’s always great to win on your home track and on such a big day,” Guy said.
“She’s done really well this time. She drew some bad barriers and ran two seconds and then two Saturday’s ago she won which gave us a start here.
“She came up with a terrific alley today and it all went perfect…especially with the money about.
“I said to Paul to ride her like you did the other day and he did exactly that. He gave her the run of the race and waited and got a run through the middle.
“We found this filly and we paid a bit for her, about $70,000, and today she looks cheap.”
Sharufa has run four times for two wins and two seconds with a total of $83,000 in prizemoney.
