Moses cashes in with another clinching victory
Trainer Kevin Moses topped off a brilliant weekend of Easter racing with a win in the first on Magic Millions raceday at the Gold Coast, one day after picking up the Listed Gosford Cup.
Ridden by Corey Brown, Mr Unforgettable (G3 Rubiton-Marama) clinched the Queensland Events Magic Millions Maiden Plate 1200m win by two lengths, well clear of runner up Richart (Jim Byrne) and Swinging To Win (Hugh Bowman) who finished third only a short neck away.
Moses has been based on the Gold Coast with trainer Alan Bailey while preparing for the Maiden race with Mr Unforgettable.
“Things panned out well. I have to thank Alan Bailey as I came up to use his stables. He’s given me his trackwork riders and helped me right through,” Moses said.
“I only had one runner and he won so I’m really happy.”
Brown was confident he had a winner and was rewarded with Mr Unforgettable launching into top gear in the final 100 metres.
“He was never going to get beaten, never ever,” Brown said while speaking to Moses after the race adding “did he look alright?” which the trainer replied, “He just sat there…yeah it looked good.”
Moses teamed up with his son Shane to win the Listed Gosford Cup 2100m with Bundoran Breeze beating Precise Timing by a short head for the Black Type victory.
Mr Unforgettable took home $57,000 for winning the Maiden race topping up his career earnings that now sit at $75,000 from five starts.
